As you will read about below, the AAWC has many active committees that accomplish much of the work of the organization. If there is a committee of interest to you, please be sure to fill out our volunteer form. If you have an idea for a new service or project and would like to propose a new committee or task force to accomplish it, you may do so using the form mentioned above.

Awards:
The Awards Committee assists the Board of Directors in soliciting nominations for AAWC Awards, such as the Distinguished Member Award.

Bylaws Committee:
The Bylaws Committee edits and/or drafts bylaw revisions as directed by the AAWC Board of Directors. The Bylaws can only be amended with a majority vote of approval from the Membership.

Communications Committee:
This committee meets intermittently to ensure that there is a streamlined message throughout all of AAWC’s communication vehicles, including the web site, newsletter, brochures, AAWC News in the journals, etc. At a minimum, the Committee consists of the Newsletter Chair, Website Committee Chair and Membership Committee Chair.

Conference Planning:
The Conference Planning Committee assists the Board of Directors in preparation for the Annual Meeting and any other meetings of the AAWC.

Executive Committee:
The Executive Committee consists of the five officers of the Board of Directors (President, President-Elect, Secretary, and Treasurer and the Immediate Past-President). The Executive Committee is primarily responsible for ensuring that the strategic plans of the AAWC are being carried out and for taking corrective action when necessary.

Finance Committee:
The Finance Committee oversees the preparation of the annual budget and monitors expenditures.

Membership Committeee:
The purpose of the Membership Committee is to recruit new members and to retain current members through various membership recruitment and retention strategies.

Nominations Committee:
The purpose of the Nominations Committee is to provide the AAWC with qualified candidates for Board positions and to monitor the annual election process. The Nominations Committee provides a slate of strong dedicated nominees who will carry on the duties of their office in order to further promote the AAWC. Anyone who is interested in running for a Board position is encouraged to submit their own nomination. Often, past experience on AAWC Committees and Task Forces helps increase one’s chances for election by the Membership.

Personnel Committee:
The Personnel Committee is responsible for effectively managing the operation of the AAWC personnel including staff and volunteers.

Newsletter Committee/Editorial Board:
Led by a Chair (or Lead Editor), the Newsletter Editorial Board is responsible for ensuring that the Association’s Newsletters are filled with informational updates and educational articles that are in line with AAWC’s mission and multidisciplinary in scope. All AAWC Members are encouraged to volunteer to be submit articles to the newsletter for consideration at any time.

Scholarship Committee:
The goals of the Scholarship Committee are to assist the Board of Directors with determining and announcing the annual program dates, evaluating the applications, awarding the scholarships to qualified AAWC Members, monitoring the usage of scholarship funds, and protecting the integrity of the program. There are three subcommittees: Research, Education, and Travel/Exchange.

Website Committee:
This committee reviews and suggests additions and/or changes to the AAWC website for the benefit of AAWC Members and the wound care public. Committee members are also assigned to act as monitors for online bulletin boards, forums and other posting areas, such as the Members-only AAWC Mentoring Program.
